
From July 7 to 11, a delegation from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (BSU) visited the University of Angers (France) as part of the Erasmus+ International Staff Mobility Program. The delegation included: Professor Merab Khalvashi, Vice-Rector of BSU, Associate Professor Irakli Kordzaia, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Professor Marine Giorgadze, Head of the Department of Strategic Development and International Relations.
BSU has been successfully collaborating with the Faculty of Tourism at the University of Angers for several years. An Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) has been signed, under which six BSU students have already participated in semester-long Erasmus+ international mobility studies at the University of Angers.
The Tourism Institute of the University of Angers is a leading European center in the field of tourism, both in higher education and scientific research, and maintains partnerships with nearly 150 universities across more than 40 countries.
At the initiative of Professor Denali Boutene, the BSU delegation held formal meetings with the Director of the National Institute of Tourism (ESTHUA – INNTO), Dean Jean-René Morice of the Faculty of Tourism, Jérôme Pirus, Head of the Department of International Relations, International mobility coordinators: Céline David, Camille Pousset-Vieil, and Laetitia Durand. During the visit, the BSU representatives received an in-depth overview of: the operations of the University’s International Office, educational programs in the Faculty of Tourism, university campuses in Angers, as well as Saumur, Montreuil-Bellay, and Les Sables-d’Olonne,
The meetings focused on: expanding and strengthening the existing collaboration, joint work on double-degree educational programs across all three levels of higher education, planning a joint Summer School at BSU in the summer of next year. In the upcoming academic year, 12 students from BSU are expected to participate in Erasmus+ international mobility and study at the University of Angers.
