International Scientific Conference - "Sports Medicine for Athletes` Health and Achievements"

The Third International Scientific Conference was held in Batumi on the topic: “Sports Medicine for Athletes’ Health and Achievements”. The conference was co-organized by the Georgian Sports Medicine Association, the Academy of Sports Medicine and Sciences, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and East-West University. The event was held with the support of the Ministry of Sports of Georgia and the Ministry of Education and Sports of Ajara.

Students of the Bachelor’s Program in Physical Medicine and Medical Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Healthcare of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, academic staff, invited teachers and graduates participated in the conference.

The International Forum was opened by Irakli Medzmariashvili, First Deputy Minister of Sports of Georgia. The opening ceremony was attended by BSU Rector Tite Aroshidze, who emphasized the importance of the conference in terms of the development of sports and sports medicine, as well as the sharing of international experience. The Chairman of the Government of Ajara, the Minister of Health of Georgia, the Chairmen of Parliamentary Committees and other officials addressed the conference participants.

The goal of the two-day conference was to promote the implementation of modern, evidence-based approaches to athlete health protection, injury prevention, rehabilitation and improvement of sports performance.

The scientific conference will provide practical training and retraining for more than 80 coaches and specialists from Ajara, and more than 60 students and academic staff from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.

The event was attended by representatives of the world's leading universities and clinics, doctors from Olympic teams, scientists, and specialists in the field of sports medicine.
