Summer School - "Challenges of Culture and Hospitality in Tourism"

On June 1-5, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is hosting an international summer school - “Culture and Hospitality Challenges in Tourism: Mapping Batumi for Tourism Purposes (USE-IT)”. The summer school was opened by BSU Rector Tite Aroshidze and Consul General of Armenia Narine Matosyan.

The summer school is organized in cooperation with the BSU Faculty of Tourism, the Francophone Employment Center (CEF Batoumi), the BSU UNESCO Chair “Internationalization of Higher Education through Interdisciplinary Research and Development”, the University of Angers (France) and Vanadzor State University (Armenia).

The school aims to study the contemporary challenges of tourism, culture and hospitality with the joint involvement of students, academic staff and international partners, to research the tourist space of Batumi and to map the city's tourist resources using the international USE-IT methodology.

The program involves representatives of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Angers University and ESTHUA - professors, researchers and doctoral students, who will be involved in teaching and research processes within the framework of the Erasmus+ international mobility program.

Participants will learn about interdisciplinary approaches to tourism research, including cartography, sociology, anthropology and tourism management.
