Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is hosting the International Conference on Physics, Laser Technologies and Intelligent Environmental Systems – BS-CAPLES 2026. The three-day international scientific forum brings together leading scientists, researchers, young scholars and doctoral students from different countries around the world.
The conference was officially opened by the Rector of BSU, Tite Aroshidze; the Dean of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education, Lela Turmanidze; BSU Professor Nugzar Ghomidze; Professor Paata Kervalishvili of the Georgian Technical University; and Professor Boris Chichkov of Leibniz University Hannover, who addressed the participants with welcoming remarks.
The main themes of the conference include modern physics, laser technologies, plasma physics, photonics, optics, spectroscopy, high-energy physics, quantum materials, environmental monitoring and intelligent environmental systems.
The conference will explore the latest advances in modern physics, laser technologies, plasma physics, photonics, optics, spectroscopy, high-energy physics, quantum materials, environmental monitoring and intelligent environmental systems. Particular attention will be given to the practical applications of fundamental research in such areas as environmental protection, energy, biomedical technologies, artificial intelligence and digital monitoring systems.
BS-CAPLES 2026 is organised by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. One of the conference’s important partners is the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, within the framework of which ongoing international projects will also be presented during special sessions.
The international scientific forum is attended by scientists from Georgia, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Ukraine, Türkiye and other countries.
The conference will feature plenary presentations by prominent representatives of the international scientific community, including Professor Dimitri Batani (University of Bordeaux, France), Professor Boris Chichkov (Leibniz University Hannover, Germany), Professor Evangelos Christoforou (National Technical University of Athens, Greece), Dr Charalampos Doulgeris (ELGO-DIMITRA, Greece), Professor Bülent Büyük (Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, Türkiye), Professor Yujiro Iwamoto (Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan), and Professor Serge Zelensky (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine).
Representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, Georgian universities and international research centres are also participating in the conference.
The three-day programme includes plenary and sectional sessions, thematic discussions, presentations by young researchers, international cooperation meetings and cultural events. Participants will discuss both fundamental scientific issues and research findings, as well as opportunities for international projects and future cooperation.
The aim of the conference is to establish BS-CAPLES as one of the leading international scientific platforms in the Black Sea region for modern physics and related interdisciplinary fields, bringing together scientists, engineers and young researchers from different countries around the world on an annual basis.
Conference participants will have the opportunity to submit extended scientific papers. Authors of the best selected presentations will be invited to prepare full-length research articles. The submitted manuscripts will undergo an international double-blind peer-review process and, subject to positive evaluation, will be published in a special conference issue by an international academic publisher.
The international scientific conference is being held within the framework of a grant project funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
