The Second International Conference “New Horizons 2026” has opened at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The forum aims to strengthen regional cooperation among the countries of the Eastern Partnership, the South Caucasus and Central Asia, deepen international dialogue, and develop new partnerships.

The participants were welcomed by Tamar Siradze, Vice-Rector of BSU; Associate Professor Giga Phartenadze; David Hoare, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom; and Erin Hart, an American diplomat and Director of Programmes at Global Minnesota.

The conference brings together representatives of universities, research and analytical centres, international organisations, civil society and the youth sector from various countries.

During the two-day conference, participants will discuss contemporary issues of international and regional importance, including:

  • Public administration, democratic development and public services
  • Artificial intelligence, digital governance and technological transformation
  • Green transition and sustainable development
  • Regional security and geopolitical challenges in the Black Sea and Caspian Sea regions
  • Youth participation in public policy and decision-making processes
  • Migration, identity and intercultural cooperation

The concept of “New Horizons” originated in the United Kingdom within the framework of the John Smith Trust’s international fellowship programme and subsequently developed into an international initiative. The conference’s central message is “KNOWLEDGE CONNECTS REGIONS.”

The conference is organised by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, the Youth Supreme Council and the Centre for Non-Formal Education, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
