Giorgi Tavamaishvili, Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of the Adjara AR, Avtandil Beridze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Adjara AR, Carl Eric Norman, Co-founder and Secretary General of the European Cultural Parliament, Merab Khalvashi, BSU Rector and Rusudan Petviashvili, artist, welcomed the festive opening ceremony of the four-days session.
Michel Brosse, Academic Delegate for Lifelong Learning (DAFCO)Grenoble, and Jean Noel Pachoud, TEMPUS LMPH Project Coordinator, Grenoble, within the framework of the Tempus project LMPH visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. At the formal meeting, Rector of BSU Merab Khalvashi, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, BSU Rostom Beridze discussed format of the future collaboration with the delegates. The Tempus project “Facilitation of Vocational, BA and MA Programs in Georgia, Azerbaijan and Moldova for the Development of the Tourism Industry” has been implemented since 2013. The LMPH project will modify the academic courses of ‘Hotel Studies’ in the Tourism curricula to harmonize them with the Eauropean accreditation standards. The project will also introduce new academic modules in Tourism Studies.
President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili met the students of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University to deliver a public lecture on the Institutes of Democracy. President Margvelashvili and BSU Rector Merab Khalvashi signed the joint memorandum which means further development of the mass media and culture studies at BSU, and launching of a new BA program.
President Margvelashvili emphasized on the significance of strengthening of the democratic institutes, the role of the Constitutional Court, and Parliament elections - one of the major state institutes.
Mr. President talked about the campaign “Your Vote is our Future’, financed through the reserve foundation and called on to make good on the civic responsibility.
North Atlantic Treaty Organization Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with students of Georgian institutions of higher education. The students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Mikhail Benia, Anna Nikabadze Soso Makaradze and Mary Makharadze attended the meeting with the NATO Secretary General.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg talked about the new challenges of the NATO, response mechanisms and the chronology of cooperation with Georgia and its further development. The meeting was organized as a question-answer session.

BSU Honorary Doctor, French Kartvelologist, Professor Charles Renee visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Summer School ‘Week of Languages with BSU’ within the framework of the project. The French Professor met the summer school participants together with the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Marina Giorgadze and talked about the Georgian culture. The French Kartvelologist also emphasized the importance of studying French language and asked students about their professional plans.
The French scholar of the Kartvelian Studies gave the Summer School participants beneficial advice and had a practice in communication.
