Students Theatre "Theatron"
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Student Theatrical Group “Teatroni” has been functioning since 2008. The Group unifies the students from various specialties interested in theatre.
The students good at acting are given the opportunity to demonstrate their potential and become the actors of the BSU Theatrical Group. The students are usually selected through the annual casting. Currently there are up to 30 students in the Student Theatrical Group.
Achievement
Every year, the Theatrical Group takes part in the International Festival of the Tbilisi Student Theatre “Mask” being awarded the prize many times.
In 2015 “Teatroni” was invited to Paris, France by “Lazi” the “hotbed” of Georgian culture. Young actors performed “Naphthalene”, the play which was loved by the audience a lot.
In 2017 BSU Student Theatrical Group performed two plays –“Two Night of May” and “Family Idyll” at the Latvian Student Theatres’ International Festival. They were awarded the special prize for the best play.
In 2019, the play “Art” performed by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Theatrical Group “Teatroni” was named as the favorite play of the Jury of Batumi Student Theatres’ International Festival “debut” .

Every day, from 06:00 pm. the group has rehearsals in the concert hall.
Choreographic Ensemble “Tbeti”
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University has the functioning Students’ Choreographic Ensemble “Tbeti”. The ensemble was established by Aleqsandre Jijieshvili, a famous choreographer in 1950 when the university used to be the Pedagogical Institute. The ensemble used to be led by famous choreographers such as: Givi Chikhladze, Vladimer Shalikashvili, Revaz Chanishvili, Jemal Chichua, Tamaz Bezhanidze, Zurab Svanadze. “Tbeti” instantly turned into one of the large-scale and uniquely ingenious teams performing in Georgia and various countries abroad.
Achievements:
In the course of the existence the ensemble has always been paying attention to protection of purity of the folk dance and preservation of the traditions of performance due to what “Tbeti” was named “People’s Ensemble.” In 2000 the ensemble was awarded the Honorable Diploma of the President of Georgia for success in creative performance.
BSU Choreographic People’s Ensemble “Tbeti” is the winner of 2013 XIII International Festival of Culture and Art.
In 2019 “Tbeti”-Batumi Shota Rustaveli University Students’ Ensemble successfully performed at the 42nd International Dance Festival held in Giresun, Turkey.
The BSU Ensemble “Tbeti” took part in the Students’ Choreographic Forum-Festival “Terpsiqore” in 2019.

“Tirini” - Girls’ Folk Ensemble
“Tirini”-the Girls’ Folk Ensemble has been functioning in BSU since 2014 and it has fifteen student girls from various faculties of the university. The ensemble has a diverse repertoire; members mainly perform polyphonic Georgian folk songs and learn playing Georgian traditional musical instruments on the professional level.
Achievements
“Tirini” is engaged in various national and international folk festivals.
In 2016 the ensemble was awarded the grand prize at the International Folk Music Festival of Belarus.
In 2016 “Tirini” became a laureate of the International Festival of Folklore in Daugavpils, Latvia.
In 2020 “Tirini” wins in the International Art XV Contest.
“Tirini” is an active participant of the university events.

Musical Group “BSU Band”
BSU Band, the musical group was created on the basis of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University in 2016. The Band unifies the students from various study years and the faculties. The band is engaged in the events and festivals held in Georgia as well as were awarded several prizes from international competitions.
Success of the BSU Band:
The BSU Band took part in the festivals held in Italy, Czech Republic and Azerbaijan with a big success. For the play “Suliko” staged for the concurs in Czech Republic, the band was awarded the grand prize, while it was given the 1st prize at the festivals in Italy and Azerbaijan. The financial support for participation in all three events was provided by the university. The band was also engaged in 2 festivals held in Georgia and theconcurs of non-copyrighted songs.
In 2019 the BSU Musical Band was awarded the grand prize of the Art Festival “Constellations in Nessebar”.

Students’ Futsal Team
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Futsal Team successfully participates in the Georgian Futsal League, Georgian University Futsal League and Georgian Beach football championships.
Any student of the university can go through the registration process and, through the selection procedure, got enrolled in the Futsal Team.

Every year the university arranges Inside Faculty Futsal League and the Tournament of Futsal in the name of Amiran Mamaladze, the hero of the Russian-Georgian war.
Futsal team new members are selected through testing procedure. Any student of the university can go through the registration process.
Students’ Basketball Team
The BSU Students’ Basketball Team contests for the Georgian University Sports Federation Basketball League and the Federation Basketball Cup, in the championships planned by the Department of Sports and Youth of Autonomous Republic of Ajara, the street basketball tournaments planned by the basketball federation.
The team is very popular amongst the university students. The combined team shows successful performance in friendly matches against the teams of the higher education institutions in the region in the course of the preparatory games.
New members, for the basketball combined team, are selected based on the results of testing. Any student of the university can go through the registration and in case of the positive results, can get enrolled in the team.

Martial Arts - "Wing-Chun”
Wing-Chun ("eternal spring") – is an Ushu school martial arts which comprises various martial arts techniques; therefore, it is considered to be the direction of Ushu. The combat in Wing-Chun is based on the principles achieved by the student from every practice. Deviation forward from the attack line is followed with the sharp straight attacks when approaching the opponent at the shorter path. Often the combat ends with a strike by a knee or an elbow. Movement “Sticky Hands” (Chi Sao) provides with the wonderful opportunity to orient for short distances. The Dan technique is closely connected with the hand and unarmed techniques. Together with “Sticky Hands” holds and throws are taught too.

Fencing
Fencing section was established at BSU in 2017. The club teaches fighting with an epee, a foil and a sabre. Students, university staff and any other individuals can become the members of the club.

Girls & Boys Student Volley-ball Team
The girls and boys student volley-ball team of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University takes part in the Georgian valley-ball federation championship, Georgian student beach volley-ball championship and the events planned by the Department of Sport and Youth Matters of Autonomous Republic of Ajara.

Chess Lovers Club
BSU Chess Lovers Club unifies the students interested in chess and popularizes chess amongst the students. The club also envisages participation in the university chess tournaments, holding online games, inviting famous chess players and organizing interesting meetings.

Arm-wrestling
Arm-wrestling club members are engaged in the championships planned by the Georgian Arm-wrestling Federation, Georgian University Sports Federation and the Department of Sports and Youth of Autonomous Republic of Ajara. Arm-wrestling is very popular among the university students and it unifies several dozens of students.
New members are selected through the baseline tests. Every university student can go through the registration and in case of the positive answer, can get enrolled in the arm-wrestling section.
