Academic council of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University elected BSU Honorary Doctor Professor Livio Zebrini of Italian Ferrara University. The professor of classical archeology Livio Zebrini Has contributed to the Georgian studies and in particular the Adjara archeology. He pioneered in establishing in Batumi an "International Center for Black Sea Studies Studies" which will coordinate development and implementation of the Georgian-Italian joint research and educational programs.
The Professor Zebrini is actively involved in studying Gonio-Apsaros cultural heritage. Last year Prof. Zebrini led the archaeological studies conducted in the central part of the castle. The expedition will be resumed this year.
BSU and Ferrara Universities signed Memorandum of cooperation in 2014. after which research and academic cooperation was further deepened. Prof. Livio Zebrini sponsored the Atskuri (Georgia) expedition, where a group of acheologists, headed by Prof. V. Licheli (Georgia) carried out excavations of the monuments dated back of the Roman period. Professor Zebrini published a monograph devoted to the Roman Age of Colchis (in Italian).

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Vice Rectors Prof. Natia Tsiklashvili, Tamar Siradze, deans and professors of BSU met the delegates from Artvin Coruh University. Deputy Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Huseyin Peker, Vice Rector of the Artvin Coruh University and Prof. Zafer Olmez, Dean of Forest Faculty. The parties planned to implement joint educational programmes and scientific projects within the framework of the memorandum of understanding. Initially, the academic personnel of the Faculty of Technologies, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health Care will get involved in the research project on forestry, carried out by Artvin Coruh University. Georgian and Turkish scholars will work jointly on the see bank development and processing.

30 Students of Faculty of Tourism at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University departed to Germany. The young people will gain valuable experience at various best rate hotels. The 75 day internship will give the students an opportunity of exposure to all the structural units of the workplace. Besides, the internship includes gaining of theoretical knowledge. The practical skills and competences is a valuable edge for their successful employment on the competitive international job market.
The international internship is carried out through the framework of MoA signed between BSU and Baltic Schwerin College. Over 350 students of BSU have already had paid internships, which was sponsored by the City Hall of Batumi and Department of Sports and Youth Affairs of Adjara AR. IX International Forum "Geo-Cultural Space: Smart Technologies in Education and Social" was opened at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. Linguists, methodologists, cultural, literate researchers and teachers of various countries attend the forum to examine the current problems of the national communities in regards of the humanities. The Session also provides for the better cooperation between the countries, the enhancement of cultural relations in real and virtual formats, development of the culture of interpersonal relations, integration of scholars` research and pedagogical potential in order to create innovative intercultural educational and scientific environment.
The keynote speakers and presenters of the forum in real time and online are from Georgian, American, Japanese, Italian, Russian, Slovak, Armenian, Belorussian, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Chinese, Bulgarian, Scottish, Ukrainian, Finnish, Crimean, Belgian and Taiwanese high educational institutions,
IX International Forum will discuss the innovative directions of teaching theory and practice, intercultural and migration problems of adaptation, bilingual education and translation, smart technologies, philological and literary issues. At the end of the forum, the participants will be sum up the forum and the proposals will be taken on the issues to be discussed in the next forums.

‘Next Steps on the Integration of the European Union` – was a topic of the Presentation and discussion held by the GCSD, Georgian Centre of Security and Development at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.

The GCSD organized the meeting to shed more light on all the topical issues related to the Georgia`s accession to the EU, and to involve various stakeholders in the discussion of the most important and timely issues.

The meeting attracted BSU students, NGOs, scholars, educators and the local media.
