Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University celebrated US-Georgia 25 years of friendship anniversary. The festive events dedicated to the diplomatic relations of the two countries continued for a week. The Consulate at the US embassy, International Development Agency (USAID), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) held exhibitions introducing the culture, exchange and grant projects which the US Government implements in Georgia. The US Week ended with a concert given by the BSU Band, ‘Helomaniakk’ (a rock-group) the hip-hop performance by the ’Two Step Crew’ and Levan Laghidze Girls’ Choir. The 25th anniversary of the US-Georgia diplomatic relations was attended by Charles F. Seten, the US Embassy economic officer. BSU Rector Merab Khalvashi, Vice Rectors Natia Tsiklashvili and Tamar Siradze hosted the events.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University professors and students commemorated the dramatic events of 9th April 1989, when, 28 years ago, the heroes who stood at the Government building, tragically fell for the historical moment of Georgia’s independence.
The participants of the memorial evening at BSU assessed the post 9th April developments in Georgia; The witnesses, who survived the tragic night shared memories; The students and educators watched the photo chronicles, lit the candles at the seaside park at the virtual memorial slab, honored with the tulips and flew the lit sky lanterns.

Georgian Youth Ambassador to Sweden Natia Lortkipanidze held an introductory meeting with the students of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University to present the MA exchange program participation and scholarship opportunities at Sweden. N. Lortkipanidze shared her social cultural and educational experience of living and studying in Sweden, one of the most prosperous countries in Europe. The students were handed the booklets with participation guidelines.

Professor Jarosław Tomaszewski, head of the international cooperation centre at the Wroclaw School of Banking, visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University to present Erasmus+ exchange program opportunities to the students and academic personnel of BSU. Professor Tomaszewski held a workshop at the Faculty of Business and Economics. The students of the Faculty attended the workshop, which dealt with the European economy.

The celebration of Georgia’s visa liberalization with the EU made an event at BSU. Zurab Pataradze, Head of the Adjara Government and Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Merab Khalvashi met the students, professors and educators who had visited European leading universities through various exchange scholarship programs. The Head of the Government congratulated the students on the historic day of visa-free travel to the European Union, and talked about the advantages and opportunities of visa liberalization for Georgia and citizens of Georgia. He put emphasis on the importance of involvement of the youth in the joint international projects, and participation in the trade, economic, cultural relations and processes. Inga Shamilishvili, Minister of Minister of Education of Adjara attended the meeting at BSU.
